Soft-edged clouds of ink, scattered rather than arranged, drifting slowly across a pale ground. Drift is the most open piece in the series: charcoal gathers in loose clusters, thins into smoke, and leaves whole passages of the paper bare. From across a room it reads as weather. Up close you can still see where the water carried the pigment and let it settle.

Nocturne is a series of seven abstract watercolour murals, painted wet-on-wet in a single warm charcoal ink. The seven share one palette and one hand; what changes is what the water does. Hung together they read as one body of work. Chosen alone, each holds a wall on its own. Drift, Veil, Reed, Horizon, Strata, Fold and Bloom — Drift is the first.
